mpiBLAST-1.6.0-Beta1
mpiBLAST-1.6.0 is our major effort in enabling users to tackle grand sequence alignment problems on state-of-the-art massively parallel computers. It is now available for beta testing.
Short list of features:
- Adopted a hierarchical scheduling architecture that signifcantly improves program scalability on massively parallel computers.
- Updated NCBI BLAST support to a more recent version (2.2.20, released April 2009)
- Resolved the performance issues when searching large query files.
- Integrated support of IBM Blue Gene/L and Blue Gene/P systems.
mpiBLAST-1.5.0-PIO
mpiBLAST-1.5.0-PIO is the current stable release.
Short list of features:
- Uses serial I/O (e.g. NFS) or parallel I/O (e.g. PVFS) with runtime option
- Able to efficiently and in parallel generate exact e-value scores for large queries
- Scalable database pre-distribution saves time sending fragments to workers
- Efficient caching of database fragments in memory
- Already patched NCBI toolbox eliminates need to download and install separately
See the README file inside the package for a list of run-time and configure options to get the best performance out of mpiBLAST.
